Sylvia M. (Buffum) Burns, 77, of Swanzey and formerly a long-time resident of Keene died unexpectedly on Friday, February 2, 2018 in the comfort of her home.
Sylvia was born the daughter of the late Vivian (LaRock) and Ray Buffum on August 20, 1940 in Keene. She was educated in Keene where she attended local schools.
On September 8, 1958 she exchanged vows with William E. Burns in Keene. Sadly, William passed on May 23, 1995 after 37 years of marriage.
Sylvia worked multiple jobs on and off over the course of her life but prided herself as a stay at home mother and wife. It was important for her to be home and attend to the needs of her family.
Mrs. Burns is survived, loved and missed dearly by her two children; Eric W. Burns of Swanzey and Jodi M. Burns and her significant other Amy Zamperini of Keene. Her siblings; Beverly Dodge of Surry and Marilynn Hobb of N.C. A grand-daughter, Angel DePauw and her husband Daniel of New Ipswich. In addition, she leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sylvia is pre-deceased by her daughter, Diane M. Short who passed on November 21, 1980 and her siblings Dick Buffum, Kenneth Buffum, Bobby Buffum, Dorothy Hall and Shirley Derosier all passed earlier.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 5 to 7pm. A celebration of life service will occur on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11am. all in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03446.
