Howard J. Bassingthwaite Sr. 91, of Keene died on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene.
He was born on May 31, 1926 in Brattleboro, Vermont.
Howard was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Mississinewa. He was stationed on the ship and survived its sinking in 1944. Howard was honorably discharged in 1946.
He was employed by the A.C. Lawrence Leather Company in Winchester for most of his working carrier.
He was married to Beverly June Wood who pre-deceased him.
Mr. Bassingthwaite is survived by his four children; Howard Bassingthwaite Jr. of Port Richie, FL. Dennis Bassingthwaite and his wife Connie of Keene, David Bassingthwaite and his wife Barbara of Deerfield, MA. and Jeane Bassingthwaite of Keene. In addition, he is survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
