Robert Crosby Needham Sr., 87, a resident of Jaffrey and formerly of N. Swanzey, Winchester, and Marlborough, passed away peacefully while resting on April 9, 2024 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester.
He was born a son to the late Alice M. (Crosby) and Sewell E. Needham on July 20, 1936 in Ashburnham, MA. He attended local Westmoreland school system.
Robert enjoyed his time working for Timkin MPB in their environmental services department for a year until he retired in 1998. Prior, he worked for CDR Footwear in Keene as a shoe stitcher for 7 years. He also formerly worked for Roberts Heart Footwear in Keene as a shoe stitcher for 10 years, along with Princess Shoe Company in Keene as a shoe stitcher for 18 years.
On June 12, 2004, Robert exchanged vows with the love of his life Ellen R. Smith. They had a simple service in Keene with the love of family and friends in attendance. They were happily married until Ellen passed away on June 7, 2022.
Robert loved to spend his free time going fishing, metal detecting, and attending family outings and gatherings.
Mr. Needham is survived by his children, Robert C. Needham Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Ocalla, FL., Roger A. Needham and his wife, Odell of Fitzwilliam, and Richard G. Needham of Troy, his two siblings, David Needham Sr and his wife, Eilleen of Murfreesboro, TN., and Phyllis Hodgkins of Palm Coast, FL. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Robert was pre deceased by his wife, Ellen R. Needham, his parents, and his siblings, Ruth Caberra, Lois Cross, Leslie Needham, and Erdmine “Buck Shot” Needham.
A burial will be at 11:00a, on Friday, May 31, 2024, in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, 60 Forest Lake Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. A celebration of Robert’s life will be announced at a later date. Although flowers will gladly be accepted, donations may be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W. Swanzey RD.
