Sidney P. Wells
Sidney P. Wells 90 a life long resident of Keene died on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. He passed peacefully with his family near after a period of declining health.
Sidney was born the son of the late Mildred (Paterson) and Arthur Wells on May 11, 1923 in Nashua. He was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1941.
He was one of the greatest generation serving his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. Sidney was honorably discharged on from Battery C. 742 Artillery Battalion on March 20, 1946 at the rank of Private First Class.
Sidney was formerly married to Barbara G. (Smalls) Wells. On August 17, 1959. He exchanged vows with Ann M. Woods. They were married for thirty three years before she passed in 1992.
Sidney enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He was happy playing cards with the boys at the VFW in Keene or just being home with family watching television.
Mr. Wells is survived by his children and their spouses; Heidi Heisler and her husband Keith of Keene, Jean Le Clair of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, Robert Wilson of Contocook and step son Peter Wright and his wife Regina of Keene. Eight grandchildren; Devon, Jennifer, James, Katie, Adam, Michael, Joey and Brian. In addition to several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is pre deceased by his sister Virginia Poole.
A graveside service will be held in the family lot with military honors at St. Josephs Cemetery, Rt. 12 South, Keene Rd. Keene, NH. 03431 at 10am. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. There are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Sidney P. Wells to: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #799 459 Winchester St. Keene, NH. 03431. All services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel and Crematories. 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431.
