Linwood Bill T. Ingram 86 a long time resident of Swanzey and formerly of Brattleboro, VT. died on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He passed peacefully with his family near after a period of declining health.

Bill was born the son of the late Emma (Pierce) and Delbert Ingram Sr. on August 21, 1927 in Brattleboro, VT. He was educated in Brattleboro and attended Brattleboro High School.

World War II came about and Bill felt the call of duty. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on June 13, 1944. He was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. Bill was honorably discharged on August 11, 1946 at the rank of Seaman First Class.

On February 28, 1948 he exchanged vows with Dorothy Kennedy in a simple service at his parents home. They were married with family and close friends in attendance. The Ingrams have been married for sixty six years.

Bill was the founder and Vice President of Ingram Construction Corporation in West Swanzey. He started the business in 1981 and retired in 1994. Bill never really left the family business, staying on as a board member and consultant.

He was a man who loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. Time was spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing. His camp in the Westmoreland woods provided him with a cherished outlet for building stone walls, clearing land, and leaving something in better condition than he found it. He was an avid reader and had a vast personal library. He had a lifelong love of animals and leaves behind his beloved cat, Luna. Bill was also a member of the Masons, Shriners, Audobon Society, American Legion, Elks Club, Kiwanis and was a life time member of the National Rifle Association.

Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife Dorothy Dot Ingram of West Swanzey, his children and their spouses; Steve Ingram and his wife Kathy of Putney, VT. Terry L. Keith and her husband Kyle of Westmoreland, Susan I. Lencioni and her husband Scott of Swanzey, Jeffrey D. Ingram and his wife Lori-Anne of Westmoreland and Shawna-Lee I. Perrin and her husband David of Westmoreland. He also leaves his siblings; Roy Ingram and Bobby Ingram. Grandchildren; Callum, Luke, Kristopher, Brett, Anna, Rebecca, Alec and Ian in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bill is predeceased by his siblings; Delbert Ingram Jr. Earl Ingram, Sylvia Thomas, Marie Goddard, Hazel Smith and Arthur Ingram.

In keeping with Bills wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11am. in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Burial will be private with military honors. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Linwood T.
