Peter Wendell (Moose) Braun 63 of Swanzey , NH. died peacefully and unexpectedly in the comforts of his home while sleeping on November 8, 2010. He has been a resident of Cheshire County for fifteen years. Prior to that he lived in Orange, MA. for 21 years.

Mr. Braun was born the son of Gertrude (Escher) and Frank Braun on January 26, 1947 in Richland Center, Wisconsin.

He was educated in Wisconsin and graduated from Richland Center High School class of 1965.

Peter enlisted in the U.S. Navy soon after graduating from high school. He served in the role as a chef on the U.S.S. Essex CVN-9 for four years and was also based in Sasebo, Japan for two years after that. His travels took him to sixteen countries. He was the recipient of the South West Asia Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Peter completed his time of service during the Vietnam Era at the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer with an Honorable Discharge.

Peter worked for various companies over his life time. He worked as a counselor at the Naukeg Hospital and Beech Hill Hospital. Moose also worked at the Otter Brook Center and Residential Resources and finally at Smith Medical of Keene.

Moose enjoyed many things in life. His greatest accomplishment was becoming a father. He loved his son Kevin. Peter also learned the importance of education and went back to school at the age of forty one to attain his Bachelors Degree at Fitchburg State College in 1995 in Human Services. He liked to ride his 1975 BMW R600R-65 riding to various places in New England and New York. For fun Moose would go bowling, play pool, read or just relax in his chair watching television. He was a friend of Bill.

Mr. Braun is survived by his only child, Kevin G. Braun and his wife Patricia of Manahawkin, N.J. His four brothers; Richard Braun, Allen Braun and Patrick Braun all of Wisconsin. His brother John Braun of Ohio and a sister Mary Braun of Wisconsin. He also leaves his grandchildren; Lauren, Heather and Sarah Braun of N.J. and a grandson, James Braun of Orange, MA. He also leaves one great grandchild. Gianna Braun of N.J. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was formerly married to and is still friends with; Sandra Eckland (Braun) of Orange, MA. and Sheila Braun of Swanzey, NH. Peter is pre-deceased by his parents.

A celebration of life service was held privately on Friday. In keeping with Peter’s Navy values a burial of cremains at sea will be held privately off the coast of N.J. At Mr. Braun’s request monitory donations should be made in memory of Peter W. Braun to the Richland Community Food Pantry, John Madden 220 N. Park St. Richland Center, WI. 53581.
