Morris Nirenberg, 92, a long time resident of Fitzwilliam, formerly of North Woodmere, New York died on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Westwood Care Center in Keene.

Morris was born to Mindel and Isaac Nirenberg on August 12, 1923 in Lodz, Poland. The family moved to Palestine when he was two and when he was six, emigrated to the United States. They settled in New York City. He attended Brooklyn Technical High School and graduated from The Cooper Union with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

He served in the U.S. Army from September 27, 1943 to March 13, 1946 as a rifleman in Ardennes, Northern France and Rhineland, Germany. He was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class.

On August 22, 1954 he married Rita Brayman in Long Beach, N.Y. with close family and friends in attendance. The Nirenbergs have been married for sixty-one years.
Morris owned several businesses over his lifetime. He held patents for many of his designs for machinery and precision instruments. The first company he founded, Vogue Instruments eventually went public. His last company was Cert Instrument.

Morris loved his work and even in his free time, he was always designing. He enjoyed cultivating and harvesting his two acres of blueberries. He loved live theatre and was one of the original subscribers to the Roundabout Theatre in NY.

Mr. Nirenberg is survived by his wife, Rita Nirenberg, his children; Lisa Walzer and her husband William Hanft, David Nirenberg and his wife Elaine Kirsch, his grandchilden: Arielle, Ben, Danielle (and her husband Brandon), Eric, Erin, Hunter, Laura, Lauren, Paul and Sarah. In addition he leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Morris is predeceased by his daughter, Nina B. Davids who died in 1997 and his sister Anne Feller died earlier.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11AM at Congregation Ahavas Achim, 84 Hastings Avenue, Keene, NH, 03431. Burial will follow at the graveside with military honors at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave., Keene, NH. 03431. Shiva will be held in the family home: 53 Howeville Road, Fitzwilliam, NH. 03447 on Thursday night, November 5, 2015 from after the funeral until 8 pm, Friday, November 6 from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday, November 7 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Thereafter, shiva will be in White Plains, NY and in Livingston, NJ.
