Beverly G. (Purrington) Meade, 71, of Keene and Formerly of Swanzey died on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully with her family near after a brief period of declining health.

Beverly was born the daughter of the late Mary (Annear) and Richard Purrington on December 28, 1943 in Keene. She was educated locally and attended Keene schools.

On March 31, 1960 she exchanged vows with Walter R. Meade in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Walter died in 2001 after forty one years of marriage.

Beverly worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier and service representative for ten years before retiring in 2002 to enjoy life with her family. Prior she had worked at MVS and Multi-Med of Keene.

For fun Beverly enjoyed reading, knitting and spent many hours cultivating her vegetable gardens. In earlier years she enjoyed fishing with her husband Walter.

Mrs. Meade is survived by her children; Michael Meade and his wife Betty of Manchester, Walter R. Meade Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Colorado Springs, CO. Anthony J. Meade of Stoddard, Diane L. Serpico of Winchester, Laura L. Meade of Hinsdale and James R. Meade of Keene. Her brother, Bruce Purrington of Winchester. Eight grandchildren; Danielle, Bobby, Brian, Nicole, Corey, Kelly, Benji, Joe Sarah, Kaylee, Brandon and Jacob. She also leaves several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Beverly is pre-deceased by her siblings; Bradley Purrington and Brenda Smith and her grandchildren Christopher, Ashley, Lexi, Lilly, Jake and Matthew.

In keeping with Beverly’s wishes a private graveside service was held this morning in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Rt. 32 South, Swanzey.
