Mary R. (Marshall) Keeton, 74, a long-time resident of Swanzey and formerly of Stratford, CT. died on Thursday, February 15, 2018. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with the love of family near.

Mary was born the daughter of the late Rosemary (White) and Robert Marshall on March 1, 1943 in Bridgport, CT. She was educated in business administration and graduated from St. John’s Commercial, Bridgeport, CT in 1958 and a graduate of Harding High School 1960.

Mary worked for Multi-Med Inc. “Smith Medical” For two years as a technician retiring in 2001. Prior to her relocation to New Hampshire, she worked as a legal secretary for various attorneys.

On November 16, 1963 she exchanged vows with Leslie C. Keeton at St. Charles Church in Bridgeport, CT. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for over fifty-four years.

Mary enjoyed life. She liked to read suspense novels, watch wildlife in her backyard, and birdwatch. Mary was also the dotting grandmother. Time was spent shopping, even if she didn’t buy anything she liked to look for the newest clothing styles. Her favorite catalog was Talbot’s! Mostly, she enjoyed time with her family. Earlier in life, she was a tireless volunteer for Planned Parenthood.

Mrs. Keeton is survived by her husband, Les C. Keeton of Swanzey. Her children; Mary K. Baier and her husband Christopher of West Simsbury, CT. and John M. Keeton and his wife Erika of Stow, MA. A brother, Thomas Marshall and his wife Barbara of Stratford, CT. Two grandchildren; Carly E. Keeton and Curtis J. Keeton of Stow, MA. In addition, she leaves; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mary is pre-deceased by her brothers; George Marshall and Robert Marshall.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all the nurses and aids with Hospice Home Care, especially Laura, Deb, and Marguerite. A thank you to Lorena and Father Trembley for providing her with a peaceful passing.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 6 to 8pm. in the funeral chapel. A mass will be given on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10am. in St. Bernard Church, Parish of the Holy Spirit, 185 Main St. Keene, NH. 03431. Burial will follow in the spring with Christian burial rights in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Swanzey. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Mary R. Keeton to: Hospice Home Care and Community Services, 312 Marlboro St. Keene, NH. 03431.
