Linda Jean (Grant) Herrick, 72 a long time resident of Brattleboro, VT. and formerly of Greenfield, MA. died on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Pine Heights Nursing Home in Brattleboro. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health with her family near.
Linda was born the daughter of the late Muriel L. (Loveland) and Edric A. Grant on November 9, 1942 in Greenfield, MA. She was educated in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School class of 1961. Later she went on in her education and received her Associates Degree from Castleton State College in Early Childhood Education.
On September 10, 1961 she exchanged vows with Leonard “John” C. Herrick. The Herrick’s have been married for fifty four years.
Linda had worked at St. Michael’s School in Brattleboro for five years as a Pre-school Teacher before retiring in 2005. Prior, she had worked at the Holstein Association as a Registrar, Brattleboro Public Schools as a Teacher’s Assistant and Met Life Insurance in Brattleboro as an Administrative Assistant.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Brattleboro for many years. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Herrick is survived by her husband, Leonard “John” C. Herrick of Brattleboro. Her children and their spouses; Sandy Wyckoff and her husband David of Brattleboro, VT. Sherri L. Spittle and her husband Eric of Sharon, VT. and Shelley A. Cloutier and her husband John of Danbury, CT. Siblings; June A. Kemp and her husband Paul of Orange, MA. Gayle I. Gramarossa of Greenfield, MA. and Robert A. Grant and his wife Linda of Tinton Falls, N.J. She also leaves eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Linda is pre-deceased by her daughter Susan M. Bills who passed on August 18, 2010.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at 10am. in the First Congregation Church, 808 Western Ave. Brattleboro, VT. 05304. Burial will follow in the family lot at Round Hill Cemetery, Rt. 30, Townshend, VT. 05353. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Linda J.
