Hella “Hindy” E. (Weidenfeld) Westervelt 76, of Spofford and formerly of Boonton, New Jersey died on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Keene Center Genesis in Keene. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health.
Hella was born the daughter of the late Fanny (Goltzman) and Saul Weidenfeld on October 31, 1938 in Bronx, New York . She enjoyed her high school years cheerleading and graduated from Freehold High School, N.J. class of 1956.
Hindy exchanged vows in 1965 with Robert L. Westervelt in New York City. They were married in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance. The Westervelts were married for 35 years before Robert passed in March of 2000.
Hindy was a homemaker and caretaker to her family; she had a knack of making every day fun and relaxing. The Westervelt’s loved summering at the cottage on Spofford Lake.
She enjoyed working with her husband Bob on their business, Aeroprint, cooking awesome meals for her family , bird watching, and team bowling. Hindy was very humorous and enjoyed a good laugh; her brothers always say how her presence would light up the room. Hindy was well loved by her family and friends.
Mrs. Westervelt is survived by her three children Steven L. Westervelt (and wife Tina) of Naples, FL, Daria F. Levy of Keene, Adam B. Westervelt of Dallas, TX; her five grandchildren Blair, Ariel, Rachelle and Olivia Westervelt and Noah Fitzgerald; her brothers Gilbert, Martin and Gerrald Weidenfeld, and her sister Rita (and Ralph) Michelle; she was predeceased by her brother Gerome Weidenfeld. In addition she leaves cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In keeping with Hindy’s wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family lot at West Chesterfield Cemetery, Chesterfield on July 12th, 2015 (time to be announced).
