George Otis Starkweather Jr. 79, A long-time resident of Marlborough and formerly of Keene passed while sleeping in the comfort of his home on Thursday, November 2, 2017 with his loving family near.
He was born the son of Daisy Laura (Cook) and George Otis Starkweather Sr. in Goffstown, NH. He was educated locally in Peterborough and graduated from Peterborough High School, class of 1957.
On June 26, 1972 he exchanged vows with Della R. Carpenter. They were married in a simple service with close friends in attendance. They have been married for forty-five years.
George worked as a mechanic all his life until he retired in 2000. He greatly enjoyed helping others by putting his mechanic knowledge to work for many friends and family. He worked at many places over the years as a mechanic and retired from Leon’s Auto in Keene.
He had many hobbies, George took great pleasure in dancing with friends every Saturday night and enjoyed other things like tinkering in the garage, riding his motorcycle and fishing. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed tending a garden every year to share with others.
Mr. Starkweather is survived by his loving wife Della Starkweather of Marlborough. His sons Eric Starkweather of Marlborough and Tony Vaine of Keene. A daughter, Calistie Blodgett, and her husband Robert of Bellows Falls, VT. A brother, Walter Starkweather of Bennington. His grandsons; Kenneth Labadie and Daniel Starkweather. Granddaughters; Kiya Dowley and Kaylene Labadie and great granddaughter, Aliana Miller. George is pre-deceased by his siblings; Charles (Mush) Cook and Harrison Starkweather as well as his sister Carol Gates.
In keeping with George’s wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service will be held in the spring of 2018. Donations can be sent in memory of George O.
