Bruce A. Phillips, 71, a life-long resident of Keene died on Saturday, November 4, 2017. He passed peacefully in the comfort of his home with the love of his large family near.

Bruce was born the son of the late Bernice (Abbott) and Clifford Phillips on August 22, 1946 in Keene. He went to school locally and graduated from Monadnock Regional High School class of 1965.

Soon after high school Bruce enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served his country in Vietnam. Bruce was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal. He completed his time of service and was honorably discharged at the rank of Spec 5 /E-5 on November 29, 1971.

Bruce was formerly married to Sindie Whitten and Lisa Hannon who he has stayed friends with.

Bruce felt that he needed to go on in his education. He attended Nathaniel Hawthorne College in Antrim where he earned his Associates of Science, class of 1978.

He worked for various businesses and companies until he accepted a position at Markem Corporation in Keene. He worked there for 30+ years as a machinist.

On July 5, 2009 he exchanged vows with Karen C. Lynde at Hidden Hills Estates in Rindge. They were married with family and friends in attendance. The Phillips’ have been married for eight years.

Bruce enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed trips to Maine. Time was spent fishing and working on various building projects. He liked to garden and enjoyed landscaping his yard. Bruce could be found mowing his lawn and many times his neighbor’s lawns. This was his time to relax and just think. In his younger years Bruce was an avid softball player. He played for many years in the Greater Keene Senior Softball League.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife Karen C. Phillips of Keene. His six children; Robert R. Phillips of Manchester, Bruce E. Phillips and his wife Kimberly of Port Charlotte, FL. Raymond R. Phillips and his wife Robin Smith of Swanzey, Billy J. Phillips and his wife Margaret of Swanzey, Kimberly A. Hunter and her husband Scott of Banning, CA. and Stephanie M. Campbell and her husband Alan of Keene. His siblings; Helen M. Bradley and her husband Scott of AZ. Neil C. Phillips and his wife Jeannie of AZ. James A. Phillips of AZ. Marteile M. Page and her husband Stanley of FL. Gary Phillips and his wife Sheila of AL, George Phillips and his wife Cheryl of Swanzey, Sandy S. Fuller and her husband Robert of Swanzey and Sharon L. Bissell of Swanzey. Bruce is also survived by eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. He is pre-deceased by his siblings; Kenneth A. Phillips, Dorothy (Sis) C. Whippie, Donald (Brother) C. Phillips, Janice V. Whippie, and Bernice (Bunny) A. Roemer, all passed earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 5 to 8pm. A Celebration of life service will occur on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10am. all in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow and take place in the family lot with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Rt. 119 E. Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
