Bruce E. Messer, 86, of Swanzey died unexpectedly on Friday, April 8, 2016 in the comfort of his wifes arms at home.

Bruce was born the son of the late Elsa (Nordlin) and Walter Messer on September 5, 1929 in Troy, NH. He was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1947. Later he attended the University of New Hampshire in Portsmouth.

On March 23, 1954 he exchanged vows with Thelma Tina E. Washburn. They were married at the United Church of Christ with family and friends in attendance. The Messers have been married for the past sixty two years.

Bruce was a patriot. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged at the rank of E-4.

Bruce had worked at the National Grange Company in Keene. He was a Bondsman for thirty eight years before retiring in 2000.

He loved to work with his hands building and repairing furniture. He would also go on adventures with his wife traveling the New England region.

Mr. Messer is survived by his wife Thelma Tina E. Messer of Swanzey. In addition he leaves cousins, extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 1pm. in the family lot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Bruce E. Messer to: Alzheimers Association, 166 S. River Rd. #210, Bedford, NH. 03110.
