Harold “King” D. Thomas

Harold “King” D. Thomas, 56, a life long resident of Winchester died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He passed peacefully with the love and compassion of his family near after a brief period of declining health.

Harold was born the son of Helen (Thomas) and Raymond Pratt on July 25, 1959 in Keene. He was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School class of 1978.

On January 4, 1997 he exchanged vows with Linda J. Lounder at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland. They were married in the presence of Lindas grandmother so she could take part in the nuptials. They have been happily married for the past 19 years.

King worked for Plumb Pak in Winchester as a Senior Crew Leader. He also worked in other positions within the company before he retired in 2006. Prior he had worked at Cheshire Medical Center in the ICU and ER as a LNA. He was also a long time employee at the Book Press in Brattleboro. King was very community oriented. He served as a volunteer EMT and Fire Fighter for the town of Winchester for many years.

He was a man of faith. He was an avid R.C. racer. Time was spent fishing, watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr. on television or going to the races at Monadnock Speedway. He spent the latter part of his life enjoying his DVD collection and watching the old TV shows, All in the Family being his favorite and COPS. King was always with his dog Angus and his cat Simon. Sadly, Angus passed in 2014. Football season gave King great joy watching the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife Linda J. Thomas of Winchester. Hs son, Harold “Buddy” C. Thomas and his wife Rebekah of Winchester. His parents; Helen Paige of Winchester and Raymond Pratt and his wife Norma of Keene. His sisters; Kay Tacy of Winchester and Shelbagene Paige of Wincherster. Three step-grandchildren; Brandon “Jr.” Buckley, Shailyn Buckley and Coleton Buckley. His aunts; Barbara Farnum, Shirley Campbell and Mary Pratt. A son from a combined marriage, Brandon K. Buckley and his fiancee, Emily Hildreth of Swanzey. In addition he leaves a niece, Samantha Tacy of Winchester and a nephew, Robert “B.J.” Amidon and his wife Debbie of Winchester. Debbies children Lori and Caleb Melanson. Also he is survived by extended family and friends. He is pre-deceased by his step-father Richard Paige who passed in 1997 and his uncles; Edgar Thomas, Derwood Thomas and Cameron Thomas all passed earlier.

A period of calling will be held from 9 to 10am. with a celebration of life service to follow at 10am. all in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester. NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
