Robert “Bob” E. Maglin, 89, of Sun City Center, FL. and formerly of Winchester, died on July 17, 2017 in Winchester.

Robert was born the son of the late Julia and Louis Maglin on July 27, 1927 in Highland Mills, N.Y. He was educated in Central Valley where he attended Central Valley High School.

He was one of the greatest generation and on February 26, 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was trained as a Linotype (Communications Intelligence) and was the recipient of the American Theatre Medal, Victory Medal and Asiatic Pacific Medal. Bob was stationed on the U.S.S. Willard Keith – DD775 an Allen Sumner Class Destroyer and the U.S.S. Cowell – DD547 a Fletcher Class Destroyer. Bob completed his enlistment on July 19, 1946 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Seaman First Class, E-3.

On August 9, 1947 he exchanged vows with Agnes J. Bullard in Central Valley, N.Y. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Agnes died on November 29, 2006 after 59 years of marriage.

Bob was employed at Boces Educational Services as an Electrical Mechanical Engineer for 25 years before retiring in 1981.

He enjoyed Lapidary (Gemstone Tree and Jewelry Making) which he shared threw education to others for twenty years. He also enjoyed being at the pool, computers and exploring the internet.

Mr. Maglin is survived by his son, David Maglin and his Wife, Rosemary Underwood and a grandson Christopher Maglin of Dover Plains NY. In addition, he leaves; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Bob is predeceased by his daughter, Donna Maglin who passed in 1997 and a sister Ethel Maglin who passed earlier.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 11am. in the family lot with military honors at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Rt 32 W. Winchester, NH. 03470.
