Philip H. Markwell

Philip H. Markwell, 78, of Swanzey and formerly of Keene, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022, after a brief period of declining health.

He was born to the late Myrtle (McClary) and Donald Markwell on June 28, 1943, in Keene. He was educated locally in the Keene School System.

Philip worked for the Keene School District as a custodian until he retired in 1984. He also worked for Troy Mills in Troy, NH, as a machine operator.

He enjoyed spending his time going skiing, camping, trips to big cities, gardening, taking care of his pets, and farms, watching western movies on TV, helping his neighbors, and puffing on his pipe. He also spent his free time delivering food boxes for the Keene Community Kitchen. Philip was a member of Hope Chapel in Keene.

Philip is survived by his two daughters Davida “Dee” J. Rockwell and her husband Bruce Jr. of Swanzey, Terry E. Rich, and her husband Everett of Swanzey, his two siblings Richard Markwell and his wife Marge of Bristol, VT. Edward Andrews and his wife Connie of Keene and one sister-in-law Leslies wife Deanna of Bristal Vt. Along with his seven grandchildren Steven Carey, Jeff Carey, Ryan Carey, Bruce Rockwell III, Darren Rockwell, Krystal Champney, Troy Rich, and his 3 great-grandchildren Jackson, Cameron, and Madelyn Carey, and many nieces and nephews. Philip is now resting peacefully with his parents along with his two siblings Donald Leslie Markwell of Bristol, VT., and Linda Markwell of Keene.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on May 6, 2022, at Mountain View Cemetery, Old Homestead Hwy, Swanzey, NH. 03446.
