Edith M. (Nolan) Smith, 91, of Hinsdale and formerly of Winchester, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Sunday, March 20, 2022, with the love of her family by her side after a brief period of declining health.

She was born a daughter to the late Mary (Stevens) and Charles Nolan on October 26, 1930, in Keene. Edith was educated at Thayer High School in Winchester.

On December 3, 1949, Edith exchanged vows with the love of her life, Everett Smith. They had a simple service with their family and friends in Winchester. They were happily married for 52 years when Everett passed away on October 20, 2002.

Edith enjoyed being a stay-at-home mother. She also worked for Princess Shoes doing stitch work for 5 years.

Although Edith loved to spend time with her children, she also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking cakes for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, etc., and sewing.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her four children Sherry A. Gordon of Winchester, Mary L. Smith and husband Gordon Plante of Hinsdale, Raymond E. Smith of Belchertown, MA. and Dawn M. Smith of Belchertown, MA., along with her 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is now rejoined with her parents, husband and her eight siblings Kenneth Ripley, Herbert Nolan, Chester Nolan, Dorothy Gagnon, Gilbert (Joe) Nolan, Clarence (Jack) Nolan, Earle Nolan and Mary Jones.

Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Evergreen Cemetery 60 Forest Lake Road, Winchester, NH, 03470. Although flowers will be gladly accepted, the family has requested that donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 29 Broadway, Floor 4, New York, NY, 10006-3111.
