Minnie May (Foster) Carey

Minnie May (Foster) Carey 61 of Winchester and formerly of Hinsdale died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. She passed peacefully with her family at her side after a period of declining health.

Minnie was born the daughter of the late Dorothy (Guyette) and Harold Foster Sr. on April 28, 1952 in Keene. She was educated locally and attended Monadnock Regional High School.

On May 23, 1978 she exchanged vows with Charles W. Carey. They were married in Troy in a simple service. The Careys had been married for 23 years before he passed on June 11, 2001.

Minnie worked various jobs over her life. She had been employed at Westwood Care Center in Keene as a Housekeeper. Prior she was at the Keene Middle School as kitchen staff.

Minnie was a woman who enjoyed simple things in life. She was most happy being with her family during the holidays. Time was spent with her cat, Sweet Pea. She liked to watch the Boston Red Sox and the Andy Griffith show on T.V. Minnie collected miniature light houses and enjoyed going out for a meal at the Blue Bird Restaurant in Winchester.

Mrs. Carey is survived by her daughter, Dorothy L. Sanborn and her husband Shaun of Winchester. Her step daughter, Christena E. Larson and her husband Thomas of Newark Valley, N.Y. Siblings; Harold Foster Jr. of Florida, June Meader of Greenville, N.H. and Mary Foster and her wife Laurie Stuart of Fitchburg, MA. Two grandchildren; Stephanie A. Woodruff and Mary May Sanborn both of Winchester. She also leaves her close friends Chris Zuccale and Dee Joslyn in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Minnie is pre deceased by her sister Susan Foster who passed on October 2, 2008.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 3 to 5pm. a service will follow at 5pm. all in the funeral chapel with Rev. Mark Ferrin of the First Baptist Church in Keene to officiate. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Minnie M.
