Mary F.C. Gilson, 92, of Rindge and formerly of Winchester, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland. She passed peacefully after a period of decline with family near.

Mary was born the daughter of the late Helena (Lawlor) and Willard Cass on March 30, 1924 in Westminster, Vermont. She was educated in Bellow Falls, VT. and graduated from Ayer High School.

On December 30, 1941 she exchanged vows with Fred Gilson at St. Mary’s Church in Ayer, Massachusetts. They were married with family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Fred passed on October 12, 1999 after fifty-eight years of marriage.

She had worked as the Town Clerk for the Town of Mason for three years before retiring in 2009. Prior, she was employed at New England Business Forms in Townshend, MA. as a book keeper in the collection and book keeping office and before that at Parker’s Maple Barn in Mason, NH. for 3 years as the book keeper

She enjoyed reading cook books and cooking.

Mrs. Gilson is survived by her son Steven and his wife Mary Beth Gilson of Winchester. A son in-law, Phred Dow of Otis, MA. Her close friend, Michael Farrey of Mason. Four grandchildren; Mary and her husband Josh Dealemus of Keene, Barbara Gilson of Nashville, TN. Bill Andrews and his wife Carrie of Des Moines, IW. Lori Craig and her husband Joseph of Northborough, MA. Fourteen great grandchildren. Mary is pre-deceased by her daughter, Janet Dow who passed in 2008.
