Gene M. Kilanski, 64, a life-time resident of Winchester, died on Sunday, June 24, 2018. He passed unexpectedly in the comfort of his home in familiar surroundings.
Gene was born the son of the late Theresa (Stevens) and Bogdan Kilanski on February 19, 1954 in Potsdam, New York. He was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School class of 1972.
On November 23, 1974 he exchanged vows with Diane J. Sabourin at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Keene. They were married with close family and friends in attendance and have been married for forty-three years.
Gene was the owner and proprietor of Gene’s Auto in Winchester for twenty-six years. Prior he had worked at A.C. Lawrence Leather Co. in Winchester.
For fun Gene enjoyed camping with his family and friends at the Fitzwilliam Sportsman Club where he was a life-time member. He also enjoyed barbeques, fishing and billiards. Gene gave freely of his time as a member of the Men’s Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign War in Winchester.
Mr. Kilanski is survived by his wife Diane J. Kilanski of Winchester. His three children; Ben M. Kilanski and fiancé Michelle L. Foster of Winchester, Todd P. Kilanski and his wife Kelli J. Kilanski of Winchester and Kristen J. Kilanski of Winchester. His siblings: Neil Kilanski and his wife Margaret of Oregon and Paul Kilanski and his wife Lucia of Yuma, AZ. In addition, he leaves; eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. Gene is pre-deceased by his brother John Kilanski who passed earlier.
In keeping with Gene’s values there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 10am in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, 13 Forest Lake Rd, Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
