Earl J. Parsons

Earl J. Parsons 83 of Keene and formerly of Lynnfield, MA. died on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. He passed after a period of decline.

Earl was born the son of Leola (Upton) and Earl J. Parsons Sr. on July 6, 1929 in Wilmington, Vermont. He was educated in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School class of 1947.

Mr. Parsons served in the United States Army during the Korean Era. He was stationed in Germany and was the recipient of the Army of Occupation Medal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal after completing his enlistment.

On March 21, 1953 he exchanged vows with Sally Foster at the Congregational Church in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. They had been happily married for fifty nine years.

Earl worked for many years at the New England Box Company in Winchester and

floating between Chelsea, MA. and Walpole, NH. before retiring in 1993. He and his wife owned and operated the Old Mill Stream Country Store in Spofford from 1965 to 1972.

He played baseball in his younger years and was a sports enthusiast. Earl supported all the New England Teams. He liked keeping the grounds at his home just so. Earl was very witty in a fun way.

Mr. Parsons is survived by his wife Sally Parsons of Keene. He leaves his son Rodney D. Parsons and his wife Joanne of Spofford, NH. Two grandchildren; Laurie J. Butson and Kirke J. Parsons. Two great grandchildren; Maxwell P. Butson and Miles B. Butson in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He is pre deceased by his parents, Earl and Leola Parsons and his only brother Donald R. Parsons who died in 2010.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 from 10 to 11am. A celebration of life service at 11am. all in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in the family lot with full military honors at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Earl J. Parsons to the Kingsbury Cancer Center, 590 Court St. Keene, NH. 03431.
