Dorothea “Doris” (Allendorfer) Susee 79, a long time resident of Nelson died on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home after a brief period of declining health.
She was born the daughter of the late Johanna (Wagner) and Alwin Allendorfer on December 28, 1934 in Germany.
Mrs. Susee moved to the U.S. as a young woman.
Doris enjoyed cooking and going out to eat. She was also a skilled seamstress which was a trade she learned at an early age in Germany. She enjoyed playing cards with friends. Hampton Beach was always on her list of things to do each summer. She also took great pride in maintaining her home. She started each morning with her “to-do” list; such as working in her flower garden, cleaning, etc.. She was a member of the Keene Senior Center.
Doris was a waitress and bartender at many of the county establishments. She retired in 2000 from the Friendlys Ice Cream Company in Keene.
Mrs. Susee never had children of her own but loved and inspired many children throughout her life. She had many cats which she found great joy as her companions.
She is survived by many friends including her close friends; Ruth and Paul Spencer and family of Swanzey, Nancy Murdough and family including her partner James Goewey of Jacksonville, FL., Tammy Catozzi and family of Swanzey, Judy Boulay of Swanzey, Jason Cunningham of Swanzey and her beloved cat “Baby”. She was formerly married to Norman Susee.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10am. in the Village Cemetery, Cemetery Rd. Nelson, NH. 03457. Flowers will gladly be accepted.
