David S Buzzell, 83, of Winchester, NH, formerly of Keene, NH and Wilmington, NC died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Applewood Care Center in Winchester. He passed peacefully after a period of declining health with his family near.
David was born the son of the late Josephine (Start) and Brig. General Reginald W. Buzzell on October 28, 
1932 in Newport, VT. David was an Army brat so with his fathers transfers he attended schools in various places. Eventually he graduated from Bennington High School in Bennington, VT. Class of 1952.
Soon after high school David enlisted in the U.S. Army following his fathers footsteps. He served during the Korean War as a Tank Gunner with the 6th Tank Bn. in Korea. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. David was honorably discharged on February 21, 1955 at the rank of Sgt. First Class.
David came home from the service with a new perspective on life. He went back to school and earned his Associates Degree in Business Management from Dean College in Franklin, MA. Class of 1957.
On June 6, 1981 he exchanged vows with Gloria H. Reuter. They were married at the St. James Episcopal Church in Greenfield, MA. with family and friends in attendance. The Buzzells have been married for thirty four years.
David worked for Sun and Surf Container Co. in Shallotte, NC for twenty five years before retiring in 2006.
He was a man of faith and attended services with the Episcopal Church. He had a passion for photography and tinkering with electronics, lovingly known as Mr. Gadget. He also enjoyed time on his computer, traveling, and fishing. Time was spent with family and friends going out to dinner or events, and meeting with the morning coffee crew. David was a member of the Executives Club in Wilmington NC, where they would go out to see plays, go dancing, and go to charitable dinner gatherings. Time was also spent doing things within the community as a member of the Lions Club, the American Legion, the Elks, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he was a member of these clubs for over fifty years.
Mr. Buzzell is survived by his wife, Gloria R. Buzzell of Winchester. His children; Roger S. Buzzell and his wife Pamela of Bernardston, MA. Marie Buzzell Jarvis and her husband Jack of Wilmington, NC. Marilyn K. Buzzell of Hinsdale, NH. Daniel S. Levinson and his wife Carolyn of Tampa, FL. Mark B. Levinson and his wife Patti of Shrewsbury, MA. Sharon B. Levinson of Guilford, VT. Lincoln H. Levinson of Greenville, SC. his brother William Buzzell and his wife Claude of Macon, GA. Grandchildren; Alexis T. Buzzell, Cierra M. Buzzell, Rebecca B. Jarvis, and Jackson K. Jarvis, his special nephew, James Chip Chapman of Gilsum, NH. in addition to grandchildren from combined marriages, nieces, nephews, extended family and very dear friends in both Bennington, VT. and Wilmington, NC. He is preceded in heaven by his sister, Elizabeth Rowe Chapman.
In keeping with Davids wishes there are no calling hours. There will be a Celebration of Life service for family on Saturday, December 26, 2015. Burial with full military honors will be held in Wilmington, NC at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memory of David S.
