Arlene C. (Greenwood) Guyette, 88, a life long resident of Keene died on Thursday, September 24, 2015. She passed peacefully in her sleep at Genesis Westwood Care Center in Keene after a period of declining health. She resided at 133 Pearl St. in Keene since 1953.

Arlene was born the only child of the late Jessie and Melvin Greenwood on April 6, 1927 in Keene. She was educated locally and attended Keene schools.

On June 27, 1953 she exchanged vows with Donald E. Guyette in a simple service in Keene. Sadly, Don passed on November 16, 2012 after almost sixty years of marriage.

In the 50’s Arlene worked for NH Ball Bearing in Peterborough, but she found her true calling in the retail industry as an associate for the Cherry and Webb (CWT) apparel Company in 1983. She worked for them for almost ten years and amassed a huge wardrobe before retiring in 1992 to enjoy life with her family. During retirement, Arlene and her husband traveled all over the US and Europe. They wintered in FL for many years.

Arlene attended church services at St. Bernard’s Parish in Keene. For fun she enjoyed playing tennis at the Keene Racquet Club, where she was a founding member in the early 70’s. Arlene also enjoyed clothes shopping and entertaining poolside with family and friends. In her younger years, she baked and decorated theme cakes. She was an active member of the Keene Senior Center and performed in many of the Swingers variety show productions. She also volunteered her time at the Swamp Bats ball games. Most Saturday nights you could find Arlene and her husband Don at the various social clubs dancing the night away and enjoying time with her wide circle of friends.

Mrs. Guyette is survived by her only child, Gregg A. Guyette of Keene. She also leaves nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

An open house gathering to celebrate Arlene’s life will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from 2 to 7pm. at the family home: 133 Pearl St. Keene, NH. 03431. In keeping with Arlene’s wishes there are no calling hours or formal services. Donations can be made in memory of Arlene C. Guyette to the Keene Senior Center, 70 Court St. Keene, NH. 03431.
