Abbie L. (Paradise) Matthews, 62, a life long resident of Keene died on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. She passed peacefully and unexpectedly after a period of declining health.
Abbie was born the daughter of Shirley (Murray) Paradise on December 26, 1954 in Keene. She was educated locally and graduated from Keene High School class of 1972.
She met Gregory A. Pitts in 1996 and they have been soul mates and partners ever since.
Abbie was formerly employed by Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland as a Certified Nursing Assistant for three years before retiring in 2014. Previously she had been employed at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene in a similar role. She was also employed a Timkin for over twelve years as a quality control inspector.
Abbie had many interests. She enjoyed long rides in the region. She liked to walk in the park. Time was spent cooking and traveling. Her fondest memory was her trip to Hawaii where she got to experience the best coffee available. Abbie also had a softer side for animals.
Ms. Matthews is survived by her partner, Gregory A. Pitts of Keene. Her mother, Shirley Paradise of Southern CT. Two brothers, Robert and James Paradise. An aunt, Olive Carroll and her husband Roy of Keene. Her uncle Howard Clark of Harrisville. A cousins, Linda Potter and her husband Mike of Harrisville. Abbie is pre-deceased by her brother John Paradise
