Valerie J. (Whicker) Robichaud, 64, of Swanzey and formerly a long-time resident of Rindge died on Tuesday January 30, 2018 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
She was born the daughter of the late Wilma (Perry) and Walter Whicker on March 15, 1953 in New London, CT. She was educated in New Ipswich and graduated from New Ipswich High School class of 1971. She later went on to obtain a Bachelors degree in Business from Franklin Pierce University.
On August 11, 2007 she exchanged vows with Richard J. Robichaud in Chester, VT. They were married in a simple service and have been married for ten years.
Valerie was the proud owner and operator of Valerie’s Gallery which opened in 2014. She made and sold products including; quilts, antique furniture, hand-made crafts and did seamstress work. Prior, Valerie was employed by the EMD Millipore Company in Jaffrey. She worked there for thirty-four years as the production manager before retiring in 2014.
She enjoyed many things; camping, fishing, crafts, sewing, quilting, puzzles and shopping. Time was spent going to the beach and working on geneaology. As life went on she became a grandmother and she enjoyed every minute with the grandchildren and family. Being a part of the Swanzey community was important to Valerie. She became involved with the Whitcomb Hall working on various charitable events.
Mrs. Robichaud is survived by her husband, Richard J. Robichaud of Swanzey. Her son; Jason O. Lord of Greenville, S.C. and her two step children Shannon H. Burbela and her husband Mark of Chester, VT. and Jacob A. Robichaud and his wife Jessica of Mount Holly, VT. Her brother, Richard Whicker of Sanford, ME. Three grandchildren; Eliza Burbela, Kyra Burbela and Liam Robichaud. In addition she is survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Valerie is pre-deceased by her siblings; William Whicker, Robert Whicker and Paul Whicker.
In keeping with Valerie’s wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 11:30 with a gathering to celebrate Valerie’s life to follow at Whitcomb Hall, 17 Main St. Swanzey, NH. 03446.
