Stephen (Steve) A. Stowell 69 of Swanzey died on September 29, 2009 after a period of failing health at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
Steve was born the son of Virginia (LeClair) and Albert Stowell on March 3, 1941 in Keene. He has lived in Swanzey all of his life and was educated locally. Mr. Stowell graduated from Keene High School class of 1959.
On June 28, 1958 Mr. Stowell took his vows to Miss. Thelma J. Knight at the West Swanzey Community Church with friends and family in attendance. They have been married for 52 years.
Steve was the owner and operator of Stowell’s Meats in Swanzey. He cultivated the land as a farmer and ran the family business for 50 years before retiring in 2003.
He really didn’t have any hobbies to speak of. Steve spent most of his time on the farm working hard to provide for his family.
Mr. Stowell is survived by his wife Thelma J. Stowell of Swanzey. He leaves three children; Debra J. Griffin of Richmond, Albert (Chip) A. Stowell of West Yellowstone, Montana and Pamela J. Stowell of Winchester. He also leaves a brother, Ronald R. Stowell and his wife Lyn of Barrington, NH. Grandpa will be missed by his seven grand children; Trevor, Jesse, Clint, Sariah Griffin, Daniel Carlin, Shane Budd, Morgan Lausier. His six great grandchildren; Haley, Justan, Dylan, S. Rowan, Rosalie and Keiran. Mr. Stowell is pre-deceased by his parents and sister Sally A. Stowell. He will be missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A grave side service will be held on Monday at 10a.m. in the family lot at Oak Hill Cemetery, Railroad St. West Swanzey. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers monitory donation maybe made in memory of Stephen A. Stowell to the Only a Farmer Memorial Fund, C/O the Savings Bank of Walpole, 400 West St. Keene, NH. 03431.
