Robert “Bob” R. Desrochers, 66, a long-time resident of Winchester and formerly of Worcester, MA. died on Sunday, November 14, 2021. He passed unexpectedly and peacefully in the familiar surroundings of his home with the love of his wife nearby.
Robert was born the son of the late Lorraine (Martin) and Ernest Desrochers on June 13, 1955, in Manchester. He attended schools in Charlestown, MA., and graduated from Charlestown High School class of 1973.
On January 6, 2006, he exchanged vows with Linda Shaktman. They were married with a simple service and have been married for fifteen years.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army soon after school. He served as an infantryman during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle Award (M-16), and the Grenade award. He was honorably discharged at the rank of SP-E4 on June 10, 1975.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, nature walks, various crafts.
Mr. Desrochers is survived by his wife, Linda Shaktman of Winchester. His children and their spouses; Daniel Desrochers of AL. Kaitlynn Carmona of AL. and a daughter for the combined marriage, Melissa Shaktman of Topsfield, MA. His siblings; Michael “Mike” Desrochers of Dorchester, MA. Linda Scott of Chelmsford, MA. Irene Martin of Stoughton, MA. Nancy Carriveau of FL. Carl Bowden of MA. Karen Rhines and her husband, Richard of NH. Don Bowden and his wife, Andrea of NH. Jim Camolli and his wife, Noemi of NH. Darlene Frick and her husband, Michael of CO., and Beau Bowden and his wife, Topaz. Six grandchildren; Mya, Braylee, Danny, Nova, Cayde, and Amari. In addition, Bob is survived by; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A public graveside service with military honors will be at 11:00AM on Saturday, May 14, 2022 in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester.
