Richard “Dick” G. Nelson 81, of Hinsdale and formerly of Maine, passed peacefully while sleeping after a brief period of declining health at the Jack Byrne Center on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
He was born the son of Ruth (Stevens) and Ralph Nelson on October 18, 1941, in Keene, NH. He was educated locally and graduated with the class of 1959.
After high school, Richard went to Barber school and then owned and ran “Dick’s Barber Shop” in Maine for 25 years.
Richard belonged to the Masons and Shriners for many years. Dick owned and took pride in his Harness Racing Horses which was his passion. He also loved antiquing which he did with his mother growing up and continued for 20 years after her passing in Hinsdale, NH. He also loved fishing and the Red Sox.
Richard is survived by his life partner of 18 years Marcia Lewis of Winchester, NH. Billie Rae Kock of Greenwood, ME. Who he loved like the daughter he never had, Gene Wilcox of Hinsdale who he thought of as a son and many many friends and neighbors who were always there for him.
A burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery on May 3, 2023, at 1 pm 60 Forest Lake Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Monadnock Regional Animal Shelter. https://monadnockhumanesociety.org/.
