Regis George Caouette

Regis George Caouette, 76, a resident of Hinsdale, passed away peacefully at the Brattleboro Memorial Hospital in Brattleboro, VT. on Sunday, July 31, 2022 after a period of declining health.

He was born on October 31, 1945 in Brunswick, ME to Lucille (Menard) and the late Raymond Caouette. He attended schools in Winslow, ME. and received his GED in 1971.

Regis enlisted in the U.S. Army in November of 1963 and was stationed in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He finished his enlistment at the rank of Sp5/E5 honorably on October 1, 1975. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, 3rd award, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm, SS Badge M-14 Rifle, and SS Badge M-16 Rifle. He served in the Republic of Vietnam and Germany.

In May of 1998, Regis moved to Hinsdale, NH., where he was reunited with Donna (whom he met in 1977 in Bellows Falls, VT.). On September 10, 2000, Regis exchanged vows with the love of his life Donna B. (Larabee/Blake) Manch. They were married in Lihue, Hawaii. He was formerly married to Susan Barrett, Catherine Potter, and Pamerla Bolduc.

When living in Bellows Falls, VT. Regis worked as a Police Officer from 1975 to 1977. In 1977 he moved to Jasper, IN. where he was Captain of Security/District Manager- K9 Protection Dogs where he was responsible for 42 dogs and 67 guards. He was responsible for getting contracts from other coal mines in the area and to be sure that all present coal mines were well protected with guards and attack dogs in Jasper, IN. 1978. From 1979 to 1980, Regis was Deputy Sheriff at the Chatham County Jail and was a private investigator in Savannah, Georgia.

Regis had many hobbies in life such as wood working (crafts), fishing, going camping with family and friends, and traveling. He loved working in security with different capacities. He especially enjoyed playing the role as “Santa” at the Hadley Mall in Hadley, MA. He loved seeing the excitement in the children’s eyes, he loved all children. Regis also enjoyed coin collecting, puzzles, and his little companion, Lui. He also loved to spoil his granddaughter, Charlotte, anything she wanted he got for her.

Mr. Caouette is survived by his mother Lucille Caouette of Winslow, ME. his wife Donna Caouette of Hinsdale, his two children Heidi L. Caouette of Elmore, AL. Brian K. Caouette and wife Kasie of Midway Park, NC. children from combined marriages, Mary Celland of Pembroke, GA. Daniel G. Blake and wife Rebecca of Brattleboro, VT. Steven D. Blake and significant other Lisa Martin of Swanzey, and Sheri L. (Blake/West) Higgins and significant other Lance Davis of Guilford, VT. He is also survived by his nine siblings Rose Marie (Caouette) Mixer of Otisfield, ME. Isola (Caouette) Anctil and husband Norman of Somerset, MA. Joanne (Caouette) Hatch-Lee and husband William of Waterville, ME. Jeaninne (Caouette) Wentzell and husband Edward of Newfield, NJ. Pauline (Caouette) Rancourt and husband William of China, ME. Richard Caouette of Maine, Ronald and Bonnie Caouette of Winslow, ME. Michael Caouette and Marilyn Diehl-Gilbert of Winslow, ME. and Patricia (Caouette) Caron and husband David of Oakland, ME. Along with 14 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, a god son, Ben Caouette, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is now rejoined with his father, son from combined marriage Phillip Celland who passed in 2016, a brother in-law Donald Mixer who passed on November 1, 2020, and a grandson Tyler Erik Dane McCue who passed on December 5, 2016.

A celebration of Regis’ life will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), 40 Black Mountain Rd. Brattleboro, VT. 05301.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, August 12, 2022 at the New Hampshire Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. The family has requested that all donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans,
