Rebecca L. (Russell) Thompson, 69, of Hooksett and formerly of West Chesterfield and Swanzey died on Saturday, June 27, 2015. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her daughter’s home with family near after a period of declining health.

Rebecca was born the daughter of the late Virginia (Shaw) and Rodney Russell on June 6, 1946 in Rutland, VT. She was educated in Keene schools.

On May 12, 1968 she exchanged vows with Peter E. Thompson. They were married in a simple ceremony with close family and friends in attendance. Sadly, Peter passed on April 17, 2011 after forty two years of marriage.

She had a few jobs over the years. She worked most recently in the deli department at Hannaford’s in Brattleboro before retiring in 1997. She was formerly employed at Homestead Woolen Mills in Swanzey and A.C. Lawrence Leather in Winchester.

Rebecca was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Keene for many years. She enjoyed crafts for fun and for gifts. Her talent brought her to craft shows where she would sell her products. Rebecca also had a green thumb and enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables that she canned and was happy to share. Mostly Rebecca was a dotting grandmother and loved her family.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughter, Doreen A. Mitchell and her husband William of Hooksett. Her grand daughter, Miranda L. Mitchell of Hooksett. Her siblings; Sharon Smith, Darci Skillings, Timothy Russell, Gary Russell, Darrell Russell and Stephen Russell. Her siblings by a combined marriage; Dick Russell, Rachel Bell, Marlene Skillings and Doug Claugston. In addition she leaves several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

In keeping with Rebecca’s wishes there are no calling hours. Burial will take place with Christian burial rights in the family lot for both Rebecca and Peter Thompson at Spofford Village Cemetery, High St. Spofford, NH. 03462 on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 1pm.
