Leo Campbell Jr.Leo J. Campell Jr., 81, a resident of Stoddard, NH, formerly of Woodstock Valley, CT, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness at his home on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

Leo was born in Providence, RI on July 14, 1942, to the late Irene F. (Dwyer) and Leo J. Campbell Sr. He attended Attleboro High School in Attleboro, MA, class of 1960, and continued his education at Villanova University earning his bachelor’s degree in Education. Later Leo attended the University of Rhode Island where he completed a master’s degree in Library Science.

In 1965, Leo was drafted and served in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Badge.

Leo and Patricia (Pat) Hofer were married on September 20, 1968, in Westerly, R.I, and moved to Woodstock Valley, CT where they restored an 18th-century farmhouse to pristine condition. After 48 years in CT, they moved to the peacefulness of New Hampshire.

Leo Campbell Jr.He taught history and was the school librarian for 20 years at Putnam High School (CT). In 1986 he made a career change and became a New York Life Insurance agent. At the time of his death, his was still serving his clients.

Leo was passionate about his hobbies: singing as a soloist in churches and various venues, woodworking, gardening, farming, and stone wall building. He was a proud Leo Campbell Jr.member of the Sullivan Congregational Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia of Stoddard, their two children, James (Erin) of Bend, OR and Benjamin (Anne) of Cleverdale, NY. Leo is also survived by his two sisters, Mary Ellen Murano and Mary Catherine Mozzi, his six granddaughters: Parker, Shea, Reese, Madeline, Caroline, and Quinn, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, two cats and 6 chickens. Leo is predeceased by his parents, along with his two sisters, Irene Ross and Suzanne Campbell.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 11 a.m. at the Sullivan Congregational Church. In lieu of Flowers, any donations may be made to:
