Karleen M. Crossman, 54, a lifetime resident of Winchester died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 14, 2019. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with the love of family near.

Karleen was born the daughter of the late Elaine G. (Aiken) Driscoll and Karl R. Crossman Jr. on January 4, 1965 in Keene. She was educated in Winchester where she attended local schools.

She was formerly married to Richard “Rick” A. Abbott Jr. Her relationship with Rick had rekindled and they became very close once again.

Karleen was employed at Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT. She worked as an environmental technician for the past six years. Prior, she had worked at Thayer High School in Winchester in a similar role for five years.

She enjoyed singing, dancing and music. Time was spent shopping and looking for good deals. Karleen enjoyed nice shoes and clothes. She had a large collection of dragonflies that she’s collected over the years. Karleen was also an avid NASCAR fan going to Louden for the races in the warmer weather. Mostly, Karleen loved being with her family and close friends.

Ms. Crossman is survived by her children; Stephanie L. Krzywda and her husband, Frank Jr. of Hinsdale, Brian L. Severance Jr. and his wife, Sophia of Swanzey, David W. Severance of Winchester and Scott R. Severance of Keene. A sister, Kathy Crossman of Swanzey. Five grandchildren; Richard S. Lapointe Jr. Frank Krzywda III, Layla E. Severance, Isiah W. Severance and Bryson Severance. Her partner in life, Richard Abbott Jr. of Winchester. In addition, she leaves; aunts, uncles, cousins, a nephew, extended family and friends. Karleen is pre-deceased by her sister, Sandra Crossman. Her children from a combined marriage, Richard A. Abbott III and Clarissa M. Abbott.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 5 to 8pm. in the funeral chapel. A graveside service will take place in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery, Winchester. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Karleen M. Crossman to: New Hampshire Epilepsy Foundation, 650 Suffolk St. Ste 405, Lowell, MA. 01805.
