James “Jim, Cady” C. Cady 79, a long time resident of Keene died on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He passed peacefully after a brief period of declining health.

James was born the son of the late Irene (Davis) and Clarence Cady on January 29, 1936 in Keene. He was educated locally in the Keene schools.

On January 27, 1973 he exchanged vows with Ella M. Royce at the Sturtevant Chapel in Keene. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for forty two years.

Cady was employed by the City of Keene. He worked in the Department of Public Works for twenty seven years before retiring in 1991.

Cady had many interests in life. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He enjoyed going for long walks and loved to feed the squirrels. Cady was a family man and very proud to take part in his children, grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren’s lives. He enjoyed joking and telling stories about his life; logging, working the farms, working for the city… etc and how things were different from today. He enjoyed family time, seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren run around as they grew into adults. As welll as laugh with his children when they became parents and went through what he went through

Mr. Cady is survived by his wife, Ella M. Cady of Keene. His six children and their spouses; Juanita M. Hubbard and Bill of Keene, James “Jim” Brown of MS. James Fulwood and his wife Melissa of Gilsum, Susan Fulwood of Keene, Kim Matney and her husband Paul of Keene and Peter Cady and his wife Gloria of Keene. His siblings; Al Davis of CA. and Sherry Healey and her husband Ray of Keene. His grandchildren; Sarabeth, Allison, Emily, Kate, James Jr. Elizabeth, Brian, Ben, Nicole, Ashley, Christopher, Maisie, Ashlyn, Logan. Great grandchildren; Mia, Brynn, Aiden, Cameron, Alyssa, Patrick and Tyler. Cady will be missed by his cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and his cat Dale. He is pre-deceased by his brother, Donald Cady who passed earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 6 to 9pm. in the funeral chapel. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester. Flowers will gladly be accepted however, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of James E. Cady to: Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Vascular Unit for training purposes, 1 Medical Center Dr. Lebanon, NH. 03756.
