Craig Clayton Cantlin

Craig Clayton Cantlin, 62, a life long resident of Surry and Keene died unexpectedly on Monday, October 6, 2014 in the comfort of his home.

Craig was born the son of the late Helen (Coburn) and Clayton Cantlin on February 1, 1952 in Keene. He was educated in Keene and graduated from Keene High School class of 1970. He later graduated from the New Hampshire Plumbing Apprentice Program.

On February 3, 1973 he exchanged vows with Deborah Navish. They were married at Saint Bernards Church in Keene with family and friends in attendance and have been together for forty one years.

Craig was employed by the Keene School System at the Symonds School for 7 years before retiring in 2012. Prior, he was a highly regarded Journeyman Plumber in the Cheshire County Area for twenty five years. He was employed by Stromgren Plumbing and Heating and Pinney Plumbing and Heating.

He was an avid sports fan and participant in the Greater Keene Mens Softball Association for many years. Craig played in numerous national championship tournaments for Washers Radiator and Glass. In his earlier years time was spent hunting and fishing. He was also an accomplished candle pin bowler and billiards player. Craig was always very generous with his time and skills assisting family and friends with plumbing needs. He was a passionate Boston Sports Fan, always willing to engage in animated discussions. He also had a civic side to him. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and a member of the William Marconi Italian Club.

Mr. Cantlin is survived by his wife Deborah Cantlin of Surry. He also leaves his daughter Brittany Trumble and her husband Charles of Stilwell, Kansas. Three granddaughters; Marisa, Emma and Kate Trumble of Stilwell, Kansas. Two sisters; Maureen Romano of Keene and Connie Hamel of Swanzey, in addition to cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous friends. He is predeceased by his sister Claudia Cantlin who passed in August.

In keeping with Craigs wishes there are no calling hours. A gathering to celebrate Craigs life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11am. at his home, 114 Rt. 12A. Surry, NH 03431.
