., 66, of Westmoreland and formerly of Marlow and VA., passed unexpectedly in the comfort of his home in Westmoreland surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
He was born the son to the late Eleanor (Emerson) and Charles Horton Sr. on December 26, 1956, in Keene. Charles was educated locally at Thayer High School class of 1974.
On August 31, 1996, Charles exchanged vows with Susan M. (Castor). They were married in a simple service surrounded by family and friends. The Horton’s had been married for 27 years.
Charles had worked at Mr. G’s in Westminster, VT. as a Head Processor for 5 years, retiring in 2017. Prior, he had worked at Stan and Son Equipment in Westmoreland as an Equipment Manager for 25 years and at Chesapeake Logging company in Virginia as a Logger.
Charlie loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, especially his canine companion Harley, the German Shepherd. He also had a great love for the outdoors where he would spend his time mowing his lawn, cutting wood or playing with his dog. If he wasn’t spending time outdoors, you could find him adding to his collections or relaxing in his favorite recliner.
Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Sue of Westmoreland. His five children, Charles III of Westmoreland, Jamie L. Weeden and her husband, Treavor of Hopkinton, MA. Amanda L. Giglio of Westmoreland, Crystal M. Giglio of Keene and Kyle C. Horton and his significant other, Anna Dorrance of Randolph, ME. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Tia Horton, Brandon Horton, TJ Weeden, Sophie Weeden, Jasmine Belt, Lexi Belt, Jesse Belt and Emma Horton. Along with his great-grandchild Finn and his mother-in-law Carolyn J. Castor of Keene. As well as cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm with a time of reflection to follow at 3:00 pm. Both will be held in the Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel in Keene. Burial will be held later in the spring of 2023 in the family lot at East Westmoreland Cemetery, Hwy 12 Westmoreland, NH. 03467.
