Alderico B. Lazzaro

Send Condolences

Alderico B. Lazzaro of North Swanzey, NH passed away early Wednesday morning, February 27, 2019 at the age of 90. The youngest son of Giovanni Batista Lazzaro and Bisolina Boccia, he was affectionately known as “Cheek” by his two brothers, three sisters, nieces and nephews; and Al or “AB” by his friends.

Leaving school early to help support his mother after his father’s death, he learned masonry skills in Springfield, MA and went on as Lazzaro & Son Masonry to earn a living for some forty years in the Keene area. Alderico built nearly 20 homes, as well as numerous fireplaces, swimming pools and commercial buildings. Most memorable of these is the first home he built at the age of 19 for his new wife Esther White and her young children. He went on to build two more homes for his family, the last of which, built in 1960s, he remained in until his passing. He loved and took great pride in his work, as many who knew him can attest.

Alderico was a gifted craftsman, as well as builder. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking – building furniture, lamps, and other items that still fill his home.
Throughout his life he loved a good laugh, good food (his chicken cacciatore was on several occasions the centerpiece of the Methodist Church supper) and good company. He also enjoyed music and playing the harmonica.

Although Esther and Alderico were divorced after 20 years of marriage, they remained close friends. He never remarried, as he maintained: “I had one wife -the mother of my children.” He is survived by his three children: John Lazzaro of Walpole, New Hampshire, Maria Lazzaro of Brooklyn, New York, and Patricia Condon of Huntsville, Alabama. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren: Lisette Swartz, Sam Lazzaro, Clint Mobley, Krista Miller, Andre Condon and Jonathan Condon.

Alderico is the last of the six Lazzaro siblings to pass. Independent minded, with a big heart, he forged his way through this life on a path of his own making.

He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

In keeping with Alderico’s wishes all services will be private and under the direction of Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel and Crematories, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. WWW.cheshirefamilyfh.com
