William CollinsWilliam “Bill” Roger Collins, 68, of Hinsdale and formerly of Lebanon, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Bill was born in Lebanon on August 9, 1954, to the late Leah (Laurent) and Roger Collins. He graduated from Lebanon High School class of 1972. He spent some of his early career in the medical supply business and then spent over 45 years in the trucking industry. He loved his job, took great pride in his work, never complained, and was well respected by his co-workers.

On August 26, 1979, William exchanged vows with the love of his life, Jill E. McDonald. They had a simple service in Vershire, VT. with their family and friends surrounding them. They have been happily married for the past 43 years.

William is currently employed with Patterson Farm in Hinsdale as a truck driver. Prior, he had worked in the same industry for various companies.

Bill was always friendly and full of life. He loved to talk and hear or tell a good story. He always took a genuine interest in what others were doing, wanting to listen to their stories and share his thoughts. His laugh and smile were heart-warming. He had a wonderful sense of humor. His biggest joy was his family. He loved talking about them, spending time with them and was a proud dad and grandpa. The family traveled to Ireland and spent many summers on the Maine coast where Bill enjoyed fishing and relaxing with family, a good seafood platter, and time with his dogs.

Bill leaves behind his beloved wife, Jill (McDonald) Collins; their children, William (Anita) Collins of Chino Hills, CA; Casey (Sean) Fitzpatrick of Grovetown, GA; and Sean Collins of Hinsdale, along with his grandsons Aidan Fitzpatrick and Liam Collins; and his brother Michael (Jane) Collins of Lebanon. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and brothers and sister-in-laws who adored him and always lovingly referred to him as “Uncle Bill”. He was predeceased by his parents, Roger and Leah (Laurent) Collins.

A celebration of Bill’s Life will take place in the spring of 2023 with dates and times to be announced later online and in the local newspaper.
