Elizabeth “Liz” A. (Phelps) Trombley, 82, a long-time resident of Hinsdale and formerly of Holyoke, Massachusetts died on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health with the love and compassion of her large family at her side.
Elizabeth was born the daughter of the late Lillian (Tetreault) and Howard Phelps on April 16, 1935 in Readsboro, VT. where she attended high school.
On July 28, 1979 she exchanged vows with Floyd A. Trombley in Agawam, Massachusetts. They were married in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance. They have been married for just one day shy of their thirty-eighth anniversary.
Liz was the former owner of Liz’s Day Care in Holyoke Massachusetts. She owned and operated the business for twenty years until retirement in 1990.
She was a member of the Readsboro First Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and traveled with her husband. Time was spent in the kitchen where she was an accomplished cook. She was well known by family and friends for her fudge and ground bologne. Her passion in life was her kids and in time grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren.
Mrs. Trombley is survived by her husband Floyd A. Trombley Sr. of Hinsdale. Her ten children; Jimmy E. Crosby and his wife Jeanne of Granby, MA. David R. Crosby and his wife Cathy of Soddy-Daisy, TN. Freddie T. Crosby and his wife Kathy of Charlotte, NC. Bill J. Crosby and his wife Denise of Chicopee, MA. Floyd “Chipper” Trombley Jr. and his wife Diane of Granby, MA. Cathy M. Cote of Springfield, Jody A. Crosby of Hinsdale, Betty I. Crosby of Hinsdale, Laura L. LaBonte and her husband Steven of S. Hadley, MA. and Lisa M. Crosby of Springfield, MA. Her siblings; Mildred Brewer, Barbara Birch and Norma Brown. Maryanne Moon. In addition she leaves thirty-three grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Liz is pre-deceased by her brother; Clayton, Richard and Ronald Phelps. Her sister, Norma Brown.
In keeping with Liz’s wishes there are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 5,2017 at11am. in the First Baptist Church, 7030 Main St. Readsboro, VT. 05350.
