Stephen R. Keith 82, a long time resident of Washington died on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Westwood Care Center in Keene. He passed peacefully with his family by his side after a period of declining health.
Stephen was born the son of the late Nellie (Stevens) and Russell Keith on October 8, 1931 in Weston, Vermont. He was educated in Vermont and attended college in Florida.
On December 24, 1987 he exchanged vows with Margaret M. McVey. They were married at a simple service in Boston Massachusetts. The Keiths have been married for twenty six years.
Stephen worked for the Volkswagen of America Corporation. He was the New England District Manager for parts. Stephen retired in 1987 at the age of 55 with Thirty one years of employment.
For fun Stephen would collect vintage garden tractors. He would fix them up and use them on the property. Time was also spent tinkering with all terrain vehicles and riding them on the local trails. He was an avid outdoorsman hunting and fishing. When time permitted he could be found reading a book. Stephen had a soft spot for all types of animals.
Mr. Keith is survived by his wife, Margaret M. Keith of Washington. His children and their spouses; Kathleen R. Dingee and her husband Mitchell of Swanzey, Kris S. Keith and his significant other Krishna Flanders of Keene, Lois R. Rich of Winthrop, MA. James L. Shea of St. Petersburg, FL. John P. Shea and his wife Dorina of Winthrop, MA. He leaves his siblings and their spouses; Joy Jackson of Albany, N.Y. Sarah Higuera and her husband Mike of Chittenden, VT. Joanne Hartwell of Dothan, AL. and Leitha Chritstie of Camden, ME. He will be missed by his ten grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
