Stewart (Scotty) A. Battersby 78 of Winchester died on January 29, 2010 suddenly and unexpectedly.

Scotty was born the son of Jess and Archibald Battersby on September 21, 1931 in Stanford, CT. He was educated locally and graduated from Stanford High School Class of 1950. He moved to Winchester in 1975.

Mr. Battersby took his vows to Margaret Rider and they had one son Stewart M. Battersby.

Stewart was gainfully employed by the Amerill Electric Company for many years as a warehouseman. He retired in 2005. Since then he has worked as a handy man and landscape manager for himself. He would also cut wood as part of his business. This would be a time to think and get some exercise. Stewart was a veteran of the armed forces serving during the Korean Conflict. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on January 30, 1954. He rose threw the ranks to the level of Sergeant.

Scotty liked to keep busy doing things with his son. They would do everything together. Where one was the other was close by. They were inseparable. Stewart loved his son very much. He was a wonderful father and care giver. They were best friends.

Mr. Battersby is survived by his only son Stewart M. Battersby of Winchester. He also leaves a sister Dorothy Pate of Stamford, CT. He is pre-deceased by his wife Margaret (Rider) Battersby who died in 1985. He also leaves nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends. He will not be forgotten.

Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Rd. Winchester on Saturday at 12noon. Mr Battersby will be buried with full military honors.
