Linda June McIntosh, 75 of Groton, Connecticut died on Wednesday, June 8th in New Haven, Connecticut.
Linda was born at St. Clare’s Hospital in Manhattan, New York City, NY, on April 25, 1947, to Lachlan (Scotty) and Virginia McIntosh. The entire family moved from New York to New Hampshire when Linda was young. During her parents’ divorce she lived with her Aunt June Dunn (her father’s sister) and her paternal grandparents, Lachlan and Irene McIntosh.
Linda graduated from Keene High School in 1965 and joined the Navy. After the Navy Linda moved to Connecticut and worked at the Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown, CT. After more than 28 years there, she moved to Groton, CT and worked at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT. She retired and worked part-time for Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Ledyard, CT as a Security Supervisor. In recent years Linda has been completely retired and enjoyed the company of her best friend, Marileen Passack and her Yorki Callie. Linda had an extensive baseball card collection and was an avid Red Sox baseball fan, as well as a NASCAR fan, always rooting for Joey Logano from Connecticut.
She is survived by: her brothers and sisters on her father’s side:
Her brother Shawn McIntosh and his wife Perla, of Palmer, Alaska; her brother Kerry McIntosh and his wife Brenda of Crocker, Missouri; her sister Bonnie Moon Walker and her husband Vincent of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister Laurel Roane of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister Colleen De la Cruz and her husband Mike of Waco, Texas; and her cousin Cindi Lambert, of Keene, NH, who was like a sister to Linda and they remained very close throughout her life.
Brothers and sisters on her mother’s side:
Her brother Newell David Combs and his wife Sandy of Hampton, VA; her sister Sandra Findeiss, of Saint Louis, MO; her sister Pamela Barton and her husband Edward of Carrollton, VA; and her sister Nancy Cowell and her husband Scott of Glendive, MT, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her father and step-mother, Lachlan (Scotty) McIntosh and Betty McIntosh; and her mother and step-father, Virginia and Newell Combs. She is also predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Lachlan and Irene McIntosh, who Linda lived with when she was young, and her maternal grandparents, Earl and Martha Flora of Jennings, MO.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 am on Friday, June 17, 2022, in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, 875 Old Homestead Hwy. Swanzey, NH. 03446
The family has asked that donations be made in Linda’s name to Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue, 14 Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446; or to The Monadnock Humane Society, 101 Swanzey Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
