Kenneth “Ken” W. Luopa

Kenneth “Ken” W. Luopa, 82, a long-time resident of Troy, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2020, at Westwood Care Center in Keene with the love of his family near after a period of declining health.

Ken was born the son of Barbara (Russell) and Smersti Luopa on September 14, 1937, in Fitzwilliam. His early years were spent in Bowkerville and he graduated from Keene High School, class of 1955

On May 25, 1963, he exchanged vows with Catherine R. Paradis at St. Mary’s Church in Claremont. They were married with family and friends in attendance and have been married for fifty-six years.

Ken was equally at home under the hood of a car or balancing on structural steel. He was a jack of all trades and was most at home in the outdoors. An antique car enthusiast, he enjoyed fixing engines and other car components. He followed sports and especially enjoyed watching the games of his children and grandchildren. A devout Christian, Ken served as a Sunday School teacher, a church elder, and in various other volunteer roles. To the end, he knew that Jesus loved him. He was a volunteer fireman with Meadowood Fire Department and enjoyed competing in musters.

Mr. Luopa was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and Smertsi Luopa, brothers Phillip and Laurence Luopa, and his first wife, Shirley A. Mitchell. He is survived by wife Catherine, of Troy and his children(spouses): Tim Luopa (Carol) of Troy, Jenny Muraski (Matthew) of Minnesota, Mark Luopa of Troy, and John Luopa (Renee) of Keene. He is also survived by siblings; Brian Luopa (Mary) of Arizona. and Michael Luopa (Patricia) of Minnesota. Additionally, he will be missed by his eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020, from 2 to 4 pm in the funeral chapel at Cheshire Family Funeral Home, 44 Maple Ave Keene, NH. A celebration of life service will take place on Monday, January 20, 2020, at 11 am in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 11 South Main St Troy, NH. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot at Mountain View Cemetery, Troy.

Stephen A. Nicholson

Stephen A. Nicholson, 63, a resident of Swanzey and formerly of Winchester, N.H. died on Sunday, January 12, 2020. He passed away unexpectedly while sleeping, in the comfort of his home with the love of his wife near.

Stephen was born the son of the late Patricia (Gifford) and Gordon H. Nicholson on August 23, 1956 in Gloversville, N.Y. He was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School, Class of 1974. He furthered his education at N.H. Technical College in Manchester and obtained an Engineering and Technology Certificate through the Monadnock Training Council Inc. in 1976.

He was employed by Markem Image, working there for the last thirty-three years in Engineering and Repair.

On August 5, 1978 he exchanged vows with his soulmate and love of his life, Kathy A. Hodgman. On August 5, 2014 he renewed those precious vows with Kathy in Ashuelot, NH.

After being an athlete himself, playing baseball in high school, he was involved in many athletics; playing on the Men’s Softball League in Keene for many years, coaching many Junior Olympic girls’ softball teams, such as the Keene Crickets and Keene Eclipse. He enjoyed Nascar and was on a local pit crew team for Todd Patenaude, Ted Brown and Roy Blake. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox as well as the N.Y. Giants. He was a Justice of the Peace and adored his precious pup Scotti.
He was a man with a huge heart who loved his family very deeply. He was reserved and private but was also well respected within the community and cared very much about enjoying life. He was very loving and caring and was always willing to help others.

Mr. Nicholson is survived by his loving wife, Kathy A. Nicholson, of Swanzey. His daughter, Ashlee Nicholson and her fiancé Joe Campbell of Swanzey. His siblings, Sterling Nicholson and his wife, Debra of Swanzey. Karen Hoffman and her husband, Glen of Florida. Russell Nicholson and his wife, Melissa of Vermont. Tina Clark and her husband, Fran of Rhode Island. His brother in laws’, Donald Hodgman of Swanzey and Peter Hodgman of Winchester. His stepsister, Shannon Amlaw and her husband, Matt of Keene. His grandson, Landon Hurst of Swanzey. In addition, he leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his step-mother, Carol Ann Clark.

Linda L. (Young) Schlichting,

Linda L. (Young) Schlichting, 76, a long-time resident of Spofford died Saturday, January 11, 2020, in the comfort of her home. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family.

Linda was born the daughter of the late Beatrice (Shackett) and Roy Young on August 5, 1943, in Keene, NH. She attended school in Troy NH and was a 1962 graduate of Troy High School.

On March 23, 1963, she exchanged vows with Philip W. Schlichting. They have been married just shy of 57 years.

Linda was a Department Manager of Ladies Fashions at Bradlees Department Store for twenty-five years. Following that she was a sales associate at TJ Maxx in Keene NH.

She enjoyed trips to the casino, watching golf and watching Nascar. She was enthusiastic about birds and loved to watch them.

Mrs. Schlichting is survived by her husband, Philip W. Schlichting of Spofford. Her children, Peter J. Schlichting of Spofford,

Kristen L. Howe of Keene, and Kimberly A. Schlichting and her husband, Damon Anothony of Lexington, KY. Her sister, Gail Coppola of Keene. Six grandchildren, Ryan Black, Nicole Black, Matthew Black, Courtney Howe, D.J. Howe, and Brandon Howe. In addition, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren, extended family,  and friends.

Timothy J. Schill

Timothy J. Schill, 40, of Ashuelot, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2020. He passed peacefully while sleeping after a period of declining health.

Tim was born the son of (Tammy Baker) Poole and Robert P. Schill on February 22, 1979, in Keene. He was educated locally and graduated from Thayer High School, class of 1997.

Tim worked as a CNC Machinist for Maxcess International in Keene for the past five years. He enjoyed his chosen vocation and cared deeply for his Maxcess/Tidland family. He worked for as long as he could until his illness made working too difficult.

Tim was of a cheerful sort. He was kind and caring with an encouraging word for everyone he encountered. Tim enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. He always hoped to have a family of his own and proudly took on caring for his girlfriend’s three children: Adrian, Briana, and Rebecca, “his little Becca”, who knew him as “Papa Goose”. Also, Tim enjoyed playing video games, fantasy football and rooting for his New England Sports teams. He liked to relax with music, campfires, and fishing.

Tim is survived by his mother, Tammy J. Poole of Ashuelot. His brother Robert Baker-Schill and partner Melanie Maillett of Winchester, and, his brother Daniel J. Poole of Winchester. Also, he leaves “Gram” his grandmother, Marilyn Baker of Winchester and Uncle and Aunt Bruce and Madonna Baker of Winchester along with his long-time girlfriend, who he affectionately called “Mama Goose”, Melissa Rondeau and her children.

In addition, he leaves his father Robert P Schill and Stepfather David Poole as well as numerous friends who he also considered family.
In keeping with Tim’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private gathering of friends and family to celebrate the life of Timothy will be held at the family’s earliest convenience. Donations can be made in memory of Timothy J. Schill to your preferred children’s charity.

Lorraine C. (Nasdahl) Lindamood

Lorraine C. (Nasdahl) Lindamood, 75, a long-time resident of Sullivan and formerly of Bellport, New York, and Memphis, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene. She passed peacefully after a period of declining health.

Lorraine was born the daughter of the late Sophia (Zaleski) and Clifford Nasdahl on August 5, 1944, in Jamaica, N.Y. She was educated in Queens, N.Y. and graduated from Martin Van Buren High School class of 1962.
On March 1, 1986, she exchanged vows with William F. Lindamood. They were married in a simple service in New York. They have been married for thirty-three years.

Lorraine was the Treasurer for the Town of Sullivan for the past twelve years. Prior, she had worked at Walmart for ten years in Memphis, TN. as a sales associate in the Electrical Department.

She enjoyed quilting, going on RV trips, painting with crafts and projects. She was an avid reader and liked the challenge of the crossword puzzle.

Mrs. Lindamood is survived by her husband, William F. Lindamood of Sullivan. Her children; Vicki A. McGuirk and her husband
Charles of Medford, N.Y. and Diane E. Yarris and her husband Ross of Rindge, N.Y. Her brother, Clifford Nasdahl of Memphis, TN. Four Grandchildren: Alexandra Yarris, Amber McGuirk, Tommy McGuirk and
Corrina Yarris. In addition, she leaves; cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Lorraine is predeceased by her brother Curtis Nasdahl.

In keeping with Lorraine’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A celebration of life service with burial to follow at the Sullivan Congregational Church, 4 Church St. Sullivan, NH. 03445 will be held at a future date.
