William Bill J. Williams III

William Bill J. Williams III, 77 of Winchester and formerly of Keene died unexpectedly on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene.

Bill was born the son of the late Helen (Montague) and William J. Williams Jr. on January 16, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was educated in Pennsylvania and graduated from The Williamson Trades School in Media, PA. class of 1955.

Bill served his country in the U. S. Air Force as a Radio Operator. He served from 1956 to 1962 and was the recipient of a Good Conduct Medal. Bill was honorably discharged after serving with 874th Air Craft Control and Warning Squadron (AC&W Squadron) Strategic Air Command, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey at the rank of A/1C E4.

On September 12, 1969 he exchanged vows with Theresa Martin. They were married at St. Annes Church in Fall River, Massachusetts with family and friends in attendance. The Williams have been married for forty-four years.

Bill had many jobs over his career. He was the owner and operator of W. J. Williams Co. a machine and fabricating company in Keene. He had previously worked as a foreman at American Optical in Keene and Cheshire Screw Company in Waltham. Bill retired in 2005 to spend more time with his family.

Bill was a man of faith and a member of St. Margaret Marys Church in Keene. He enjoyed collecting guns, wood working, doing crossword puzzles and watching old western movies. He was an avid collector of O scale trains, old car banks and was a history buff. Time would be spent vacationing at Wildwood Beach in New Jersey with his wife and family.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Theresa Terry Williams of Winchester, He also leaves his children and their spouses; William Bill J. Williams IV. and his wife Susan of Shrewsbury, MA. Michael P. Williams and his wife Sue of Concord, David A. Williams and his wife Dawne of Keene and Lisa A. Hannon and her husband James of Keene. Bill is survived by thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, cousins, extended family and friends.

In keeping with Bills wishes there are no calling hours. A Mass with Christian burial rights to follow will take place at St. Margaret Marys Church, 33 Arch St. Keene on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 10am. Burial will follow in the family lot with military honors at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave. Keene. Bereavement will be held in St. Margaret Marys Church hall after the Mass. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of William J. Williams III to the charity of ones’ choice.
