William “Bill” A. Hamill, 78, a long-time resident of Swanzey and formerly of Roxbury died on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the Jack Byrne Center for Hospice and Palliative Care in Lebanon. He passed peacefully with the love of family near while sleeping after a brief period of declining health.

William was born the son of the late Ann (Struckfus) and William Hamill on August 31, 1940 in Yonkers, New York. Growing up in New Rochelle and graduated from New Rochelle High School class of 1958. He went on in his studies graduating from Bethany College with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry class of 1962.

United States Army emblemOn March 9, 1964 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he worked as a Field Artillery Operations and Intelligence Assistant. He served his enlistment and was honorably discharged at the rank of PVT. E-2 on October 14, 1969.

In 1972 he took a position at Markem Corporation as a chemist / manager in the ink division and later chemist / manager in R&D retiring in 2002 after forty years of employment.To this day Bill’s formulas are still being made. Prior, he had worked at Ciba-Geigy in a similar position.

On May 4, 1988 Bill exchanged vows with Carole L. Dubois. They were married in a simple service with close family and friends in attendance. The Hamill’s have been married for almost thirty-one years.

Bill enjoyed many things in life. Time was spent playing and watching golf. He was fortunate enough to travel to England, Ireland and Scotland to play various courses. He also enjoyed doing the Sunday crossword puzzle in the paper. Bill gave back to his community by being a member of the Monadnock School Board for twenty-three years.

Mr. Hamill is survived by his wife, Carole Hamill of Swanzey. His children; Christopher Hamill and his wife, Erin of Orlando, FL. Meghan Hamill of Bakersfield, CA. Children from a combined marriage; Gwen Star of Nashua, Gregory Dubois of Swanzey and Christina Duboisof Keene. A grandson, Torin Hamill of Orlando, FL. and grandchildren from the combined marriage; Kyle, Isaiah, Audrey, Lena, Nathan, Sarah and Kate Siblings Brother Joseph Hamill, Sisters Pat Coscia, Donna Martin of FL and Barbara Holde of FL. He is predeceased by his bothers Robert, Richard, and Jimmy.
