Wayne Nickolas Schwindt

Wayne Nickolas Schwindt 69, of Roxbury and formerly of Swanzey died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene.

Wayne was born the son of the late Elizabeth (Koch) and Joseph Schwindt on October 10, 1944 in Dickinson, North Dakota. He graduated from Ogilvie High School in Ogilvie, Minnesota class of 1965.

Soon after high school Wayne enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his time during the Vietnam War. He was assigned as a boiler technician and was honorably discharged at the rank of BT3 / E-4 on September 12, 1971. Wayne later enlisted in the Army National Guard and again was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant / E-5 on December 7, 1994.

On August 10, 2001 he exchanged vows with Karen LaPorte in a simple service at their home in Roxbury. They were married with family and close friends in attendance and have been married for thirteen years.

Wayne worked for various companies over his life time. He was a dedicated, hard worker driving truck for Carroll Concrete in Peterborough, Concord Labs / Smith Medical of Keene. He was also a foreman at Park Construction of Fitzwilliam and Arthur Schofield Construction in Framingham, Massachusetts. Wayne retired in 2010 to enjoy his golden years with his family.

He was a man of faith and a beloved husband and father. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing with his grandchildren. Time was spent hunting, hiking and walking his dogs. He could be found puttering around the house doing projects and fixing things. He also enjoyed listening to country music. Time was also spent tracing back his roots and sharing genealogy with family.

Mr. Schwindt is survived by his wife Karen Schwindt of Roxbury. He is also survived by his children and their spouses; Sarah Coppo and her husband Jeffrey of Peterborough. Anna Willard and her husband Robert of Gilsum, Nickolas Schwindt of Swanzey. His grandchildren; Malcolm and Anthony Coppo and Keenan Machado. His siblings; Harold and James Schwindt of Ogilvie, Minnesota. Wayne is predeceased by his brother, Gerald Schwindt.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1pm. in the family lot with military honors at Nye Hill Cemetery, Middletown Rd. Roxbury, NH. 03431. At Waynes request there are no calling hours. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Wayne N.
