Walter R. Blenkhorn, 72, a long time resident of Winchester died on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. He passed peacefully with his family near.

Walter was born the son of the late Myrtle (Rogers) and Harold Blenkhorn on May 10, 1943 in Berlin, Massachusetts. He was educated in Hudson, MA. and graduated from Hudson High School class of 1961.

On January 14, 1964 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War as an Amtrac Crew Operator. Walter was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He completed his time of service on November 22, 1966 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Cpl. E-4.

Walter worked for Raytheon in Wayland, MA. for over twenty years in the manufacturing division before retiring in 1982.

On June 28, 2003 he exchanged vows with Cindy Spencer at their home in Winchester. They were married with close family and friends in attendance and have been married for twelve years.

Walter loved to do yard work and watch all the animals in his yard. He was an avid military and history buff. Time was spent enjoying antique cars especially Fords.

Mr. Blenkhorn is survived by his wife, Cindy Blenkhorn of Winchester. His daughter, Sandra J. Woodworth of Enfield, CT. His sisters; Debbie Blenkhorn of Framingham, MA. Helen of Berlin, MA. and Beverly of Stowe, MA. In addition he leaves many grandchildren, several great grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Walter is pre-deceased by his brother, Hal Blenkhorn

A gathering to celebrate the life of Walter R. Blenkhorn with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 1pm. at 422 Old Chesterfield Rd. Winchester, NH. 03470. Flowers will gladly be accepted. However, the family would prefer donations be made in memory of Walter R. Blenkhorn to: VA Regional Medical Center, Manchester, NH. Homeless Veterans Fund, 718 Smyth Rd. Manchester, NH. 03104.
