Toivo R. Saavi 87 of Harrisville died peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Cheshire Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Keene.
He was born the son of Sarah (Silenpaa) and John Saari on March 6, 1924 in Peterborough, NH. He was educated locally and graduated from Peterborough High School Class of 1942. His education was important and after military service he attended and graduated from Harvard University in 1948.
Toivo was one of the greatest generation. He served his country as a pilot flying B-24 Bombers making several flights over seas. He receive an honorable discharge on October 10, 1945 at the rank of 2nd. Lieutenant form the 425th Army Air Force.
Mr. Saari worked for the Cheshire Mills for many years. He retired in 1986.
In his younger years Toivo was known to go hunting and fishing. He spent time in his garden and enjoyed playing the stock market and making projections of his own.
Toivo is survived by his brother Allan Saari of Harrisville. He also leaves a niece, Rhonda A. Wentz of Walpole. He is pre-deceased by his parents and brother Onni Saari.
