Timothy Platts Brown

Timothy Platts Brown 77, of Keene died on October 23, 2014 at his home in Keene. He passed peacefully with loved ones by his side.

Timothy was born the son of the late Barbara (Platts) and Sumner Brown on April 26, 1937 in Keene. He attended and graduated from Dublin School, Dublin, NH, and went onto Deerfield Academy, Deerfield MA, and Hanover College, Hanover Indiana where he was a fraternity brother in Beta Theta Pi.

On October 20, 1989 he exchanged vows with Cynthia J. Schultz. They were married in West Dover, Vt. with family and friends in attendance. The Browns have been together for just over twenty five years.

Tim worked for Texas Refinery Corporation based in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a salesperson for the New England territory and sold lubricants and greases to many establishments prior to retirement in 2012. Previously, Tim was employed at Homestead Woolen Mills in West Swanzey and had also worked at Noone Mills, in Peterborough.

Timothy was a very caring, gentle man who helped many of his neighbors and friends. In his youth, Timothy attended Camp Takodah and Camp
Keewaydin, learning back woods skills he used throughout his life. Tim loved hunting and fishing, and could often be found with fly rod in hand searching streams for trout to catch and release. He had a pilots license and owned a Cessna 180 which he loved to fly in earlier years. He was an avid tennis and football player.

On January 22, 1961 he enlisted in the Army Reserves. He completed his enlistment and was honorably discharged on October 26, 1966.

Timothy is survived by his beloved wife, Cyndy Joy Brown of Keene. Other survivors include his sisters; Nancy Brown of West Swanzey, Cynthia Brown Richards of West Swanzey, and Barbara (Babs) Putnam of Keene and his brother in law Thomas Putnam of Keene. His natural children; David Shipp Brown of Georgia, Robert Wheeler Brown of Maine, and Sumner Timothy Brown of West Swanzey. Step children Tiffany Joy Barrow of MA, Jess McNeill of Winchester, and Clifford McNeill of Keene. His daughter in law, Carla Brown. Grandchildren; Hallie Elizabeth Brown and Ethan Wheeler Brown of West Swanzey. Also extended nieces and nephews George and Annie Putman of Wyoming, Zaz Putnam of Keene, Erica Heinrich of Montana, and Frederick Richards of Montana. His former wife, Linwood Shipp Brown died in 2002.

Timothy accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior over ten years ago and grew in his walk with the Lord through prayer and Bible study. Towards the last weeks of his life, Tim looked forward to watching special programs on the Church Channel. He especially liked the Billy Graham Classics and Dr. David Jeremiah and John Hagee. The Bible verse that best affirms Timothys beliefs can be found in John 3 verse 17 which says For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. This is the blessed Hope for Eternity.

A memorial service with military honors is being planned for the coming Spring of 2015. All services are under the care of Cheshire Family Funeral Chapel and Crematories, 44 Maple Ave. Keene, NH. 03431. WWW.cheshirefamilyfh.com.
